Compliance for all
Posted by Paul Mabray on July 20th, 2007Almost 1 year ago I promised that we would release free compliance to the entire industry and on Monday we announced that to be true. Our tool will be FREE to the entire industry and launch at the end of August at www.rethinkcompliance.com. Why would we do this you ask? In my mind we walk in the shadow of giants. We followed Robert Mondavi’s, a personal hero of mine, example. When he first launched in CA he felt that Napa/CA wines could be as good as Old World producers. He would go and try new barrels, rootstock, yeast, technology, etc. to learn how to make better wine. Instead of hoarding his findings on the best of the things he tested, he would share that information with other wineries in CA and the world even though they were competition. As a result Napa, then CA, then all New World wineries became better at making their product and now they are part of the mainstay of the wine industry. A rising tide raised all ships.
We believe that compliance is a gating factor for wineries adopting and leveraging the direct channel. As a result we feel that by removing this barrier, wineries will be able to better succeed at direct sales and the entire industry will benefit as they engage in this channel more opening and more importantly, consumers will benefit from more wines being delivered through direct sales.
We have put together a great counsel of wine industry leaders to help guide the compliance rules and we will release their names soon. Moreover, I have dedicated even more resources (both people and capital) as a result of the announcement to ensure that this product thrives and continues to improve so that ANY winery (Inertia client or not) has the ability to overcome this hurdle and better succeed at direct sales. Our compliance tool will always be free. We also have invited all compliance companies to join our tool so that they can use it to better streamline their ability to help wineries manage the business as well as leading fulfillment houses, POS systems, and even our e-commerce competitors.
We believe in wineries and we believe in direct and we want both to succeed at all costs. Rethinkcompliance.com is one of our statements confirming that commitment.
