“Manufacture your own message” - everything is great at Inertia

Posted by Paul Mabray on August 23rd, 2007

My first mentor once told me that “if you don’t manufacture your own message, others will do it for you.” This is especially true in the very tight-knit wine community. Today, I just heard a HORRIBLE rumor that, after our last Board meeting, all the Sr. Management was laid off. This is as far from the truth as possible. To the contrary, we are all very busy here and are not laying off, but hiring. LOL. I will say that we have lost two people from our company in the last 60 days for various reasons which is the nature of any company.  We are 50 strong and growing. So, to quell the rumor mill - we absolutely, under no circumstances, are getting the axe treatment from the Board. Quite the opposite, they love our plan going forward and have asked us to accelerate hiring (especially programmers and salespeople - so if you are looking for a job . . .)

Well, there is our message and don’t get caught up in the rumor mill. It only grinds out bad information.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the symposium and our client/partner/investor appreciation party.

Get used to it - the “best” rumors we’ve had are:

    1) we’re buying all of our fruit from Mexico (they’re growing some nice wines down there, but that’s FAR and we have great fruit right here in Calaveras!)

    2) the ABC fined us $100,000 for serving to a minor (first off, we are about as vigorous as anyone about checking IDs - and second, a fine like that would make the national news!)

    3) the winery is for sale (and of course it is - for the right price! everything is for sale for the right price, even IBG - and don’t say you won’t, because you’d take that pile of money and go do something else amazing!)

oops - I probably just started another rumor for you - sorry! :) see ya! - j

ps: Inertia has more great ideas than programmers, and I am an impatient client - so send in those resumes NOW!!!
