Podcasts are great educational tool.

If you have a nice speaker system set up in your tasting room it might be helpful to stream one of these podcasts for your visitors to listen to while sipping their wine. If you could mix in some light jazz or clasical music between podcasts I think your tasting room guests would really appreciate the variety.

Wine for Newbies: Wine educator Bill Wilson is your guide for this free online wine course. Subjects include wine tasting, food and wine pairing, the types of wine and the places where wine is made. This is a great way for wineries to educate their tasting room customers about wine. ****
Vine Cast: Promotes the enjoyment of wine for beginners and more advanced wine lovers. Each show focuses on wine variety, region or producer, and tasting notes. *****
Grape Radio: This show is known for their wonderful interviews with world renown winemakers, vineyard owners, wine retail and wholesale leaders, restauranteurs and sommeliers. Other show topics include the enjoyment of wine, wine news and industry trends. ***1/2
Napa Valley Wine Radio: Hosted by Goosecross Cellars, this podcast delivers wine education, entertainment and appreciation from an insider’s perspective as well as suggestions for enhancing your enjoyment of food and wine.

An audiobook might be just the panecea. Julian Curry has written a wonderful book (A Guide to Wine) dedicated to the rich and complex subject of wine. This book takes you on a journey of grape-growing, winemaking and producing many varieties of wine. Complete with advice on cellaring, buying, wine and food pairing, tasting as well as descriptions and pros/cons of all of the major wine regions in the world.
